Foster a Rescue Animal

Fostering is one of the most impactful ways you can help a rescue animal.

By opening your home temporarily, you give a dog or cat a safe place to rest, recover, and prepare for their forever family. Foster homes allow animals to experience love, stability, and everyday life outside of a shelter environment.

Most importantly, fostering helps us rescue more animals because every open foster home creates space for another life to be saved.

What Fostering Means

Foster families provide a temporary home for a rescue animal until they are adopted.

This may include:

  • Providing a safe and loving environment
  • Helping the animal adjust to home life
  • Basic care such as feeding, walks, and affection
  • Sharing updates and photos so we can help find their forever home

Fostering can last anywhere from a few weeks to a few months depending on the animal and adoption timeline.

What the Rescue Provides

Who Rescued Who NS supports our foster families every step of the way.

We provide guidance, coordination, and support to help make the fostering experience positive for both you and the animal.

Why Foster

Fostering helps animals:

  • Recover from stressful shelter environments
  • Learn to trust people
  • Adjust to living in a home
  • Improve their chances of being adopted

For many animals, a foster home is the first place they experience safety and comfort.

Is Fostering Right for You?

You may be a great foster if you:

  • Love animals and want to help them succeed
  • Can provide a safe and stable home environment
  • Are patient as animals adjust to new surroundings
  • Are willing to share updates and photos to help them find homes

Even short-term fostering can make a life-changing difference.

Every foster home helps save lives.

By opening your home, you are giving an animal the chance to heal, grow, and find the loving family they deserve.
