Who Rescued Who NS was pleased to be part of the Mini Pet Expo, hosted by The Pop Up Market Halifax. This pet-friendly community event brought together animal lovers, local businesses, and rescue supporters for an afternoon dedicated to celebrating our furry companions and helping animals in need.
Held at the Halifax Brewery Market on Lower Water Street, the event offered visitors an opportunity to connect with local pet-related businesses, enjoy live music, and learn more about the organizations working to make a difference in the lives of animals.
For Who Rescued Who NS, it was an opportunity to introduce more people to our rescue efforts and share information about the many ways our community can help.
Throughout the event, visitors were invited to learn about the dogs currently available for adoption and those preparing to travel from The Bahamas to Nova Scotia.
One of the highlights was sharing news of our upcoming private rescue flight on November 7th. Each dog preparing for this journey represents another opportunity to provide an animal with the safety, care, and loving home they deserve.
We also shared information about fostering and the important role foster families play in helping rescued dogs adjust to their new surroundings while waiting for permanent homes.
Visitors had the opportunity to support Who Rescued Who NS through donations and the purchase of our rescue T-shirts, with all proceeds from T-shirt sales going directly toward our rescue efforts.
The Mini Pet Expo also featured pet products, photography opportunities, and other activities that made the afternoon enjoyable for visitors and their four-legged companions.
Events like this help us reach people who may be considering adoption, interested in fostering, or simply looking for ways to support animal rescue.
A special thank-you to The Pop-Up Market Halifax for welcoming Who Rescued Who NS to the Mini Pet Expo and providing an opportunity to connect with the local community.
We're grateful to everyone who stopped by, asked questions, expressed interest in fostering or adopting, purchased a T-shirt, or made a donation.
Every conversation helps raise awareness, and every act of kindness contributes to giving more animals a second chance.
Thank you, Halifax, for continuing to support our rescue community!

Our community came together for an afternoon of learning about heartworm and preventative care, rescue dog behaviour, fostering, volunteering, and the many ways we can better support animals as they transition into new lives.
A huge thank you to experienced foster Agata Pydzinska, Dr. Mosher of Crossroads Animal Hospital, and veterinary and behavioural specialist Dr. Michelle Nicholson for sharing their knowledge, as well as our volunteers, supporters, and our generous host, Jaime at Black Harbour Distilleries.
The weekend gave us even more reason to celebrate. Every animal who was currently in our care found a home, and we even had puppies pre-adopted!
As a 100% volunteer-run and 100% donation-driven rescue, having our community show up, learn, ask questions, and find new ways to get involved means so much to us.
Read more about the event on our "Events" page and discover how you can help us help the next animal who needs us.

Our recent Information Seminar brought together fosters, adopters, supporters, and people who simply wanted to learn more about rescue and how they could help. It was an opportunity to ask questions, share experiences, learn more about training and decompression, and talk about what it really takes to help a rescue animal successfully transition into a new home.
We were also grateful to have Dr. Mosher join us and share her knowledge with our growing rescue community.
But the weekend gave us even more to celebrate.
Every animal currently in our care found a home, and we even had puppies pre-adopted before they arrived.
For a rescue, there aren't many feelings better than knowing the animals you've been working so hard for have families waiting for them.
Finding forever homes is a huge part of rescue, but it is only one piece of what makes this work possible.
Before an animal ever reaches an adopter, there may be veterinary care, vaccinations, transportation, paperwork, foster care, supplies, rehabilitation, training, and countless hours of coordination happening behind the scenes.
Sometimes there is also a plane ticket and a very special person willing to help an animal make the journey.
That is why there are so many ways to become part of Who Rescued Who NS.
You can adopt or pre-adopt an animal waiting for a family. You can foster and give an animal a safe place to stay while they wait for their permanent home. You can become a flight angel and help an animal travel from one place to another. You can donate to help with food, supplies, transportation, and care.
You can also attend our events, share our animals with your friends and family, volunteer, or simply help us reach someone who may be able to give an animal the home they have been waiting for.
This weekend showed us what can happen when people come together.
Seeing every animal in our care adopted is something worth celebrating. Knowing there are already families waiting for animals who haven't even arrived yet gives us another reason to keep going.
Because when one foster home opens, one adopter says yes, one person offers to help with a flight, or one donor contributes what they can, it creates room for us to help another animal.
There will always be another one waiting.
If you've ever wondered whether there is a place for you in rescue, there is.
Adopt. Pre-adopt. Foster. Volunteer. Become a flight angel. Donate. Share.
However you choose to help, you become part of what makes the next rescue possible.
Help us help the animals. Together, we can give more of them the chance they deserve.
