Who Rescued Who was founded by two passionate women brought together by their love for animals and their belief that compassion can change communities.
We rescue dogs and cats from shelters, unsafe conditions, and the streets—often from Caribbean islands where resources are limited—and bring them to safety where they can receive medical care, rehabilitation, and loving foster homes.
Working with trusted rescue partners in the Caribbean and across Canada, we help transport animals to safety and prepare them for loving forever homes.
Every animal deserves a second chance at life, and with the help of our volunteers, fosters, and supporters, we work every day to make that possible.

Our mission is simple: to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in need while building a compassionate community that celebrates the bond between people and animals.
We believe rescue goes both ways.
The animals we save bring joy, healing, and love to the people who welcome them into their lives.

Since launching our rescue efforts, we have worked alongside partners and volunteers to save animals and support communities where help is needed most.

... and we’re just getting started.
Every rescue has a story. Some are shy. Some are playful. Some are already convinced that every person they meet is their new best friend.
This week we're excited to introduce several wonderful dogs who are searching for the one thing they can't give themselves... a family.
Meet Pete, and Maeve, who will soon be arriving in Nova Scotia. Each has a unique personality, but they all share the same hope: a safe place to call home and people who will love them for the rest of their lives.
Whether you're looking for a playful puppy, a gentle companion, or a loyal best friend, one of these incredible dogs may be the perfect addition to your family.
Every adoption changes two lives: the dog's... and yours.

Some dogs come into rescue knowing exactly how to be a dog.
Others have to learn. Tecna is one of those dogs.
At just 10 months old, this beautiful Royal Bahamian Potcake mix spent much of her early life living in a crate at the Bahamas Humane Society. While other puppies were discovering toys, cuddling on couches, and learning that people can be trusted, Tecna spent her days waiting. Today, she is finally getting the chance to experience all the things every puppy deserves.
Every day brings something new. A soft bed. A favorite toy. A gentle hand reaching down for a belly rub. The comfort of being part of a family. And Tecna is embracing it all.
She is a sweet, gentle soul who is quietly discovering that the world is not such a scary place after all. Her confidence grows a little more each day, and once she trusts you, her affectionate side shines through. Belly rubs are one of her favorite things in the world—and if you stop too soon, she'll politely remind you with a gentle paw asking for more.
Tecna gets along well with other dogs, is good with children, and walks nicely on a leash. She isn't demanding or overly energetic. She's simply looking for what every rescue dog hopes to find: a family willing to give her the time, patience, and understanding she needs to continue blossoming.
Dogs like Tecna remind us that rescue is often about more than saving a life. It's about helping a dog discover the life they were always meant to have.
The hardest part for many rescue dogs isn't where they came from. It's learning to trust that they won't have to go back.
Tecna is ready to give her heart to someone. All she needs is a person willing to move at her pace and show her that she is finally home.
A Bit About Tecna:
If you're looking for a loyal companion and have room in your heart for a dog who is still discovering just how wonderful life can be, Tecna may be the one you've been waiting for.
Sometimes the dogs who ask for the least are the ones who have the most love to give. ❤️

Hannah McNamara, co-founder of Who Rescued Who NS, recently joined The Halifax Network Podcast to share the story behind the rescue and the mission to help dogs and cats in need.
In the interview, Hannah talks about rescuing animals from the Caribbean, the importance of foster homes, and how community support is helping give these animals a second chance at life.
We’re grateful to Chris Crowell and The Halifax Network Podcast for giving Hannah the opportunity to share the rescue’s story.
